Meet Amazonite: The Stone That Looks Like the Sea

Meet Amazonite: The Stone That Looks Like the Sea

There are stones I work with because they're beautiful. And then there are stones I work with because I can't stop looking at them.

Amazonite is the second kind.

About the Stone

Amazonite is a variety of feldspar mineral with a color that ranges from soft mint green to deep teal — sometimes with white streaks running through it that look like seafoam or clouds. It has a gentle, almost watery quality that makes it feel calm and grounding to look at.

Despite its name, amazonite isn't actually found in the Amazon River. The name likely comes from green stones historically found in that region, though today most amazonite comes from places like Colorado, Brazil, and Russia. Wherever it comes from, the color is unmistakable.

Why I Love Working With It

Amazonite has a smooth, polished surface that catches the light beautifully — and that blue-green color plays so well against sterling silver. The cool tones of the stone and the bright shine of the wire complement each other without competing.

It's also a stone with a lot of personality. Depending on the light, it can look more blue, more green, or somewhere in between. That shifting quality is part of what makes it so special to wear.

The Necklace

My Amazonite Sterling Silver Wire Wrapped Necklace is handcrafted using the same wire wrapping technique I use for all my pendants — no glue, no solder, just wire shaped and woven by hand to hold the stone securely.

The stone in the listing is the stone you receive. One of a kind, just like you.

How to Wear It

Amazonite's blue-green tones make it a natural match for ocean-inspired outfits, but honestly it works with almost anything. It's stunning against white or cream, beautiful with denim, and adds a pop of unexpected color to a neutral outfit.

It's the kind of necklace you reach for without thinking — and then get compliments on all day.
