I've been wanting to work with moss agate for a while now, and I finally found a stone worthy of it.
Moss agate is one of those stones that looks like a tiny world captured inside glass. It has a cloudy, translucent base — almost like looking through frosted glass — with green inclusions that drift through it like wisps of smoke or delicate ferns. It's not a bold, solid green. It's subtle and layered, and the way the light passes through that cloudy base gives it a soft, almost dreamy quality. Every piece is completely different, and that's exactly what drew me to it.
About the Stone
Moss agate isn't technically an agate in the traditional sense — it doesn't have the banded layers most agates are known for. Instead, it's a form of chalcedony with mineral inclusions (usually iron or manganese) that create those distinctive green, plant-like patterns inside a translucent or milky base.
The result is a stone that looks organic and painterly — like nature made it specifically to be worn.
Why Argentium Sterling Silver?
For this pendant, I chose Argentium sterling silver rather than traditional sterling silver. Argentium is a premium silver alloy that contains germanium, which makes it more tarnish-resistant and brighter in color than standard sterling silver. It's also hypoallergenic, which is a bonus for anyone with sensitive skin.
I wanted the wire to complement the soft, cool tones of the moss agate without competing with it — and Argentium does that beautifully.
